Rapture Ruckus invades Billboard

Ex-pat Parachute alumni Rapture Ruckus have topped the American Billboard Gospel charts, with hit-laden 'Invader (Deluxe Edition)'.

From a plucky white rapper from Wellington to an award-winning ex-pat, Rapture Ruckus’ Brad Dring started out touring in the back of his mate’s station wagon, a promising young talent on Parachute Records. These days the high-top wearing entertainer rolls in a Prevost tour bus. It’s a testament to over a decade of hard work and unrelenting cross-country touring stateside.

This week the grind has paid off, with the deluxe edition of Rapture Ruckus’ 'Invader' topping the American Billboard Christian charts.

The album combines the Dove Award-nominated trio’s last two efforts Invader Volume I and Invader Volume II along with the hit single, “Volcano (feat. Jonathan Thulin),” which has lived in the Top 10 on the Hot AC/CHR charts for five weeks.

Rapture Ruckus also debuted their music video for “Volcano” on March 3, a cinematic effort from Thulin and a team of filmmakers. Check it out below.

Frontman Brad Dring says the success of Invader Deluxe Edition is a huge win for the indie ethic; especially considering the album was crowd-funded.

'When I got the text from our manager saying the album debuted at #1 on billboard, I thought he was pulling my leg. I didn't really believe it until I saw the chart, and there it was at number one – it felt pretty unreal. We've always had an old school approach to promoting our music; we tour hard, sell CD's at shows and make as many friends as we can. The great thing about this record is it was 100% funded by our fans and not a label, that’s freakin’ awesome.'

Back in the Prevost, the trio’s trucking on, tackling the spring and summer festival circuit in the states, followed by tours in Asia and Europe.
